Over the past year and a half, members of the Babson Energy and
Environmental Club collaborated with the school's Facilities
Management and Planning office to create a feasibility study
to evaluate the potential of utilizing wind power on the Babson
campus. This work culminated into a formal proposal, submitted
on behalf of the Babson Energy and Environmental Club, that
recommended an installation plan for a small, residential scale
wind turbine as a demonstration project. The proposed wind turbine
intends to accomplish the following four specific goals while
limiting financial and visual impacts:
- Develop Babson’s relationship with the rapidly expanding
and entrepreneurial cleantech industry.
- Demonstrate Babson’s commitment to responsible environmental
stewardship.
- Build support for past, current, and future sustainability
initiatives at Babson.
- Inspire Babson students to explore alternative energy business
endeavors.
The proposal was put forth through the support of the Babson
Energy and Environmental Club and the school's student body.
Project recommendations were officially approved at the close
of the Fall 2007 semester and Babson will be moving forward
with the on-campus installation over the coming months.
More information about the project can be found through the
Babson
College newsroom.
Babson's turbine installation will be completed by SolarWrights,
Inc. To watch a video of one of the company's previous installations

Please join Babson in celebrating this partnership between
the school's administration and the student body during a public
groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for 10:00 AM on March 27th.
Among other distingusihed guests, State Representative Alice
Peisch will offer a keynote address during the ceremony. |
